Property jargon rant: episode two

Not so much a jargon rant this time as a serious bit of disappointment in the written skills of some agents. I’ve just let my apartment and it’s been interesting to see the different agents descriptions. One of the best things about my place is the amount of outside space. There are two roof terraces totalling about 750 sq ft and, being up on the 8th floor and halfway between Canary Wharf and Bank, the views of the City, Shard, Docklands and River Thames are pretty knockout. Sunrise in the East, sunset in the West; it’s what sold me on the apartment in the first place. So, not difficult to write something short and sweet you’d think. Well, short most definitely comes easy to one agent, who managed to sum up all this loveliness in – get this – one word. One word! How could you possibly sum up river views, city views, docklands views, 750 sq ft and general all-round fabulous outdoor space in one single word? What could this magical, mystical, all-encompassing nugget of the English language be? Are you ready? Here we go. Brace yourself… Balcony.
